Mother's Day marketing ideas for salons

May 05, 2021 — Amber

Mother's Day: it is without doubt one of the best online marketing opportunities for your beauty salon, spa or hair salon. A great opportunity to attract new customers and reach the mothers and grandmothers of your loyal customers. Free up some time to think of Mother's Day promotions that best suit your salon. Our Mother's Day marketing ideas can get you started and are quick and easy to apply!

Ideas for Mother's Day marketing

Make the most of your Mother's Day campaign with these simple, last-minute marketing tips.

Promote a number of nice combination deals. This is a valuable gift to give to a mother and your customers get to discover other treatments you offer, for example;

  • Combine a pedicure with a massage for a nice price.
  • Book a manicure now and get a facial massage for only £ 10 extra!

Sometimes a day of quality time is the best gift we can give our mothers. And that includes relaxation, of course! So encourage your clients to bring their mothers in for a special treatment with you, where both mother and daughter get a discount. Not only is this a great way to get existing clients to book an appointment, maybe you can welcome their mothers in the future as well.

We have to admit, we just love great contests on social media. Mother's Day is also a great time to do this. Post a fun contest on your Instagram or Story and keep it simple for followers to enter, for example:

  • Set up a promotion for expecting mothers ("Tag an expecting mother who deserves a moment of relaxation!")
  • Post a picture of a wishlist and ask your followers what they would most like to get for Mother's Day (hint!)

Apart from the fact that it generates nice comments, it is also very good for the engagement of your Instagram page. The more people interacting with your post or Story, the more authority your profile will gain. And that leads to more new potential customers.

Encourage the customers who came in for a Mother's Day promotion to make a follow-up appointment! Give them a discount or a voucher afterwards, for example;

  • 20% discount on a colour treatment in May
  • Book a 60-minute massage and get the first 30 minutes free in June

Promote your Mother's Day campaign

If you came up with a great promotion, then of course you want to bring it to the attention of as many people as possible. With these tips, you will reach the most customers for your Mother's Day promotion!

In the run-up to Mother's Day, sending out one newsletter is not enough to get the most out of your Mother's Day campaign. Therefore, plan 2 or 3 newsletters in the week and a half leading up to Mother's Day. Here is an idea of how you can set up this campaign:

  • In the first newsletter, you introduce a number of nice combination deals, especially for Mother's Day
  • In the second newsletter, capitalise on the popularity of your campaign. Point out that your calendar is already filling up nicely! If your customers want to benefit from your great promotion, they need to act fast.
  • Your last newsletter is only a few days before Mother's Day; now it's really time for action. "Only 3 more days to go before Mother's Day! Have you already booked a special treatment for her?"

On a busy day, you don't always have time to answer the phone, so it will go to voicemail every now and then. Another promotional channel for your Mother's Day campaign! "Unfortunately I am not able to answer the phone at the moment, but I expect you are calling for our Mother's Day promotion? Please leave a message and I will call you back as soon as possible." If the caller is not at all familiar with the Mother's Day campaign, they may have become curious.

Whatever promotion you offer, you will probably also post it on your social media. On your Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram account, followers can respond to your promotion or share it with their friends. Also place the promotion on your website. Via the online appointment widget from Salonized, clients can then directly schedule an appointment online for your Mother's Day promotion!

Even though Mother's Day is fast approaching, you might still have time to design a flyer to hand out in your salon to all your clients!

Good to know…

The average spend on Mother's Day was £ 21.00 in 2020. So make sure you don't offer too expensive treatments or products as a Mother's Day promotion.
